Creating a Swedish database for pursuing quality in Refractive Surgery was a priority task as the Swedish Club for Refractive Surgery (SCRS) was founded in September 2004 by representatives from nearly all refractive surgery units in Sweden.
Efforts from the SCRS to form a register coincided with initiatives from the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) to create a refractive database for international use. Hence, the two missions were joint, resulting in today’s Refractive Surgery Outcomes Information System. The Swedish refractive community has taken a leading role in joining the system.
